 Yesterday, I did not watch the Super Bowl game.  Yes, go ahead and mob me, I don't care.  I did something way better than watching a sport I despise and don't understand.  What did I do?

I went to our local theatre with my friend and her family, and we saw Jesus Christ Superstar.  I don't particularly like that musical, but I went because I never pass up going to the theatre.  The production itself was very good.  I mean, the acting was superb, and it seemed like most of the main characters fit their parts.  And they had good voices.  The choreography was totally wow, and the costumes were...interesting.  I liked them.  My friend and I especially liked Mary Magdelene's costume.  It was this red dress, I think it must have been halter-top-ish, and it had a long, pretty skirt.  I said I wanted a dress like that.  It was simple, but the design was awesome.  And red was totally that actress's color.

Yes, so that's why I did not watch the Super Bowl game.  I did hear it, though.  When I got home and retreated to my room, my parent's friends and my dad were giving a spoken commentary.  Kind of hard to miss.

Well, now... I wrote this for a combination literature and English grade when I was in eighth grade.  It's my favorite ever.  Except for lots of others.  tee-hee.

Fear

The ancient trees cause early ends of sight
As a light breeze sways the weeping willows.
Watch as leaves drop into the pond of woes,
But look not on obscurity called fright.
Why does the unknown darkness cause this fear?
Innocent trees contribute to such plight!
Fight fear, and let logic end fear-blocked sight;
Push fright'nin oaks aside; let hope be near.
Foreboding leaves cross paths and bring the dark,
Mirth dies as phobias raise the unclear;
If fright were vanquished all creatures would cheer,
For with the fear's defeat comes light and lark!
This fear is a mask of uncertainty.
It leaves in its wake death and upset trust.

See...it's a sonnet, so it's got 10 beats per line...and a rhyme pattern...plus the assignment called for a metaphor.  Metaphors are fun, so I extended the metaphor!

Subject:Skunks

I was thinking about skunks the other day.  They're so cute...if you've ever actually looked in the face of a skunk, they have such sweet faces.  Anyway, a haiku came to me.  ta-da!

Stinky when angry
Skunk is striped in black and white
Skunk should make you glad

It's not the best haiku I've written, but I'm sure it's the deepest.  What could be deeper than skunks?
